I wanted a relatively straight forward GPS product without spending a lot of money. The Magellan RoadMate 1430 is a nice size compared to some of the available competition and the great screen is very clear and bright and exceptionally easy to read in the daytime. It took 5 minutes to lock its current position when switched on for the first time. The icons on screen are easy in use, the maps are very comprehensive, and the maps are extremely easy to see.
I took the Magellan RoadMate 1430 with me to Miami and it got me there without any problems. Directions are clear and the interface is pretty straight forward. Entering addresses is quite easy, route calculation is very fast. My only problem with the display is that the automotive GPS system is a bit too bright at night and the brightness is set to its lowest setting.
Points of Interest was very useful. You can search POI by Name, Category and then look local to your position, in a city or near a different location. I actually like the breakdown of POI Categories, incredibly helpful.
In general, I am awfully happy with the Magellan RoadMate 1430 and would happily recommend it to anybody.
