The Lowrance GlobalMap Baja 540C is amazingly straightforward and smart to use to plan a route. The start screen icons are easy enough and the screen is not confusing at all, giving you trouble-free access to look at the map or select any functions you need.
The directions given by the Lowrance GlobalMap Baja 540C look incredibly accurate. The GPS unit talks to you with voice guidance in the shape of "Turn right in 0.5 miles onto Baker Street" at intervals of 2 miles, half miles, and just before a turn, giving lots of warning ahead of the next turn. Perhaps you have a road instantly after another one, the Lowrance GlobalMap Baja 540C will also add "Turn right onto Second Avenue, followed by a left turn." The GPS device is brilliantly good with freeways, allowing you loads of notice where on the freeway you should be on prior to a split in the road or an exit. I find myself rarely having to look at the route as the voice commands are so correct. Looking at the accuracy of the routes this GPS device gets me to my destination amazingly well.
